I'm Baaaack
I am back, and it feels great. I had taken a couple weeks off, went and got married and then we had fun passing some sickness throughout the family. What better way to start a marriage? Sick kids, feeling like crap yourself, and to top it off we added a new puppy, Maggie Mae, to the mix which has actually been a bright spot and sort of symbolized the turning point for everyone getting better. Things have been hectic to say the least but I am back, I am feeling good, and I am ready to throw my dart at the mystery map that is Ben Simmons’ landing spot.
Ben Simmons is a very unique player, I do think that he can be thrown into most systems and thrive, but there are obviously some that he would be better suited for.
Golden State would be a very scary landing spot for the rest of the league, but I don’t think they are willing to part with the pieces that it would require to bring him over, *cough* Draymond *cough*. I think it would be good for the team on paper, but that is a tight knit locker room and that core has been through a lot, it would be hard to cut those ties.
The Timberwolves are another spot that has been rumored, but I feel like they are in the same spot as the Warriors, they would have to give up some key pieces that I don’t think they are ready to move on from and would like to build around.
I think the Trailblazers make the most sense, I think they are ready to move on from McCollum, and that is a piece that I think could work out for both sides. I think McCollum would fill the void that Simmons would leave in Philly, and of course there would have to be some pieces added in, likely on both sides, to make it work, maybe those are the details that have been being worked out behind closed doors.
Other teams have been rumored too, just about anybody that has the assets is interested, but Philly is still trying to get a bag on a player who clearly doesn’t want to be there, so there is less leverage for Philly, there’s still leverage, but less. My dark horse pick is New Orleans. There has been some stirring within their organization, Zion not being happy, etc. I could see a package that includes Brandon Ingram to Philly in return for Ben Simmons. That would be a very interesting New Orleans team, the floor spacing would be horrendous, but maybe they would bring back the bully ball play style, and just beat teams up down low. They would be big, but still mobile. Like I said, dark horse, but crazier things have happened. OKC is also sitting on a huge pile of picks that could make the deal work, or they could be an easy team to bring into a 3-way deal.
That’s what I am watching for now, the season is growing near, my league pass subscription fees just came out which means it’s getting real. I am giddy to say the least, can’t wait to see this Bulls team on the court, not happy that PWill is going to miss a couple of weeks but it’s nothing serious as long as it doesn’t linger we will be OK. Where do you think Ben Simmons will land?
As always, thanks for reading, have a fantastic Monday, this is ALL NET.
